The Evolution of Christian Books

By Adherents.com

Christian books have come a long way in the last several decades. At one time, it was rare to find a Christian book that made its way into popular culture. There were a few exceptions, but popular Christian books were rarely the rule. Things began to slowly change in order to bring Christian books to the level they are at today.

For years, the only popular Christian books in the mainstream were the Narnia series by CS Lewis. The popular Christian allegory was read by children all over the world, but it was often not recognized as a Christian book. Still, it was something that Christian leaders embraced because of its positive message. However, those involved in Christianity were not sure if they would ever get to see such a groundbreaking and important book by a writer again in their lifetime.

The problem was, Christian books were blocked from entering into the mainstream. There was a belief that Christian books were meant for church. Therefore, many people ignored such books.

Now, though that has changed. Christians can now buy books that are both fiction and nonfiction. They have Christian themes of love and morality, and they are readily available and avidly consumed.

Christian books are even hitting the mainstream media. The Christian book The Love Dare, written to show couples how to keep their marriages and their faith alive, has been found on bestseller’s lists, and also in major magazines. Mainstream media is finally recognizing Christian books as the force they are.

From CS Lewis to Stephen Kendrick, author of The Love Dare, Christian books are thriving. They have grown through the years, and they will continue to grow. They old stigma associated with Christian books are gone, allowing many to enter the mainstream marketplace.

By giving a powerful message of love and hope, they will be able to survive and prosper through the years. They will continue to break down boundaries and edge their way into popular culture.
